Texas cook-offs

Texas runs more cook-offs than any other state, anchored by BBQ on the Lone Star Barbecue Society (LSBS) calendar and IBCA contests across the eastern half, plus a deep CASI chili circuit including the legendary Terlingua Championship each November. Combined-sanction weekends — BBQ plus chili at one fairground — are common across the hill country, panhandle, and Rio Grande Valley. Season runs nearly year-round thanks to mild winters in the south.
